Frequently Asked Questions

ANSWERING YOUR FREQUENTLY ASKED pest QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Are the products you use safe for my family?

We will always take every precaution and ensure that all potentially harmful chemicals are used with care and safely controlled, posing no threat to you or your loved ones.

I have pets, will it harm them?

No, we have different types of bait and insecticides that are 100% pet friendly and will pose no threat to the wellbeing of your treasured pets.

What do we do when you start the treatment? Do we have to leave?

Different treatments will have different circumstances, for example, if we are baiting for mice, you will not be required to leave the premises. If we are carrying out any sort of fumigant or spray, there will be an exclusion period – this is usually no more than 4 hours. In every case, you will be thoroughly instructed and advised prior to and after the treatment.

What if the treatment doesn't work?

In the unlikely event this happens, we will support you 100% and return at the earliest possible opportunity to repeat the treatment or change the method used.

I work full time; do I have to come home from work?

We will always do our best to work around your schedule and understand that it can be difficult to get away from work. We can always arrange a suitable time for you as we can carry out treatments 24/7, no matter what time of day or night!

I can't make my appointment, what do I do? Will I be charged?

We understand that things can change; if you need to change the appointment, just give us a call or email with as much notice as possible to reschedule. You won’t be charged or put to the back of the queue!

I have a service agreement in place, what do I do? Do I have to pay for callouts?

If you have a service agreement, you can call us and request a visit, we will get out to you ASAP. You will have a clear plan and what you are covered for. If you are covered for those pests, you will not be charged (Service agreement specific).

How much do you charge?

Each treatment is different based on the pest and the severity of the infestation, so a quote will be provided following the free survey. Visit our prices list for more information.

Do we have to pay for the survey?

No, the free survey is completely free with no charge. At the very least, you will be provided with a professional opinion and recommendations.

Are there any hidden charges?

Never! All prices will be clearly communicated to you prior to treatment.

What do you do with our details? Are they kept secure and are they shared with third parties?

Your personal details are absolutely confidential and will be kept on our secure files, in line with GDPR. At no point will your details be shared with any third parties for any reason.

TESTIMONIALS from southampton clients

"A fantastic prompt service. Dan and Matt were very professional and carried out a survey to investigate the noise in the attic. A dead bird was found and removed and advice for further actions regarding possible entry points, once nesting and fledging had finished, was given. They were very helpful and wouldn’t take any payment for the survey and removal as no evidence of mice or rats was found. I could not recommend them more highly - very impressed! Thank you."

"Absolutely brilliant! Both workmen were respectful in our house, especially regarding the COVID rules currently in place. They explained to us where the holes and gaps were, and showed us the work they carried out. They were both very thorough in their work too. Would highly recommend Dan and his team to anyone experiencing rodent problems."

top ten pest control tips from southampton exterminators

Tip #1: Bins – Empty all bins on a regular basis, pests such as rodents will often return to these sites if food and water sources are available.

Tip #2: Waste materials and compost – Keep your waste and compost in sealed containers away from the house. If pests are using your waste, they could also look to use your home for shelter!

Tip #3: Standing water – Clear all standing water, be that collected water in the garden or standing water in your bathroom at home. Pests such as flies will use these sites as breeding grounds.

Tip #4: Vegetation – Keep vegetation short where possible, not only will rodents chew it, but they will also use it as cover when moving around.

Tip #5: Carry out your own inspections – Inspect your own areas regularly for signs of pest activity; rodents will often dig under your foundations to gain access to your premises. Pests are always seeking harbourage sites in places such as a loft or roof spaces. So, check these areas!

Tip #6: Keep doors and windows closed where possible; insects and rodents will enter freely when given the chance.

Tip #7: Buying second-hand clothing or furniture? Thoroughly inspect them for signs of pests such as moth larva, or bed bug eggs. Second-hand items can harbour such pests and can transfer to your own home, causing infestations!

Tip #8: Do you have pets? Check them regularly for signs of fleas and wash their bedding. Consult your vets or a professional to seek advice on pet pest prevention. A stitch in time saves nine!

Tip #9: Do you keep pets such as rabbits? If so, try lifting the cages onto concrete slabs, as this will stop rodents burrowing underneath and potentially harming them.

Tip #10: Not sure? If you spot any sign of pest activity, or even if you can hear or smell something but you have never seen anything, call us on  07771 632998, and we can provide a free survey and give you peace of mind.
